The Smoothie Life Hack

I love a good smoothie, filled with greens, protein, your fave superfood, some seasonal fruit and fats!  It’s the best way to start my day and sets me up for a day of energy and health.

Even though it’s probably the easiest morning routine, sometimes things are rushed and get messy in the kitchen. That’s why I like this breakfast life hack of prepping your smoothies in mason jars and placing them in the freezer.

It’s so easy. Just wash your veggies and fruit and place in a plastic bag or mason jar and then place them in the freezer (minus powders and liquids). When you’re ready to blend, just grab and dump the contents in the blender. Add your favorite plant-based protein, and liquids and you’re all set!

Here are a few superfood smoothies to get you going!

A Dirty Coco MONDAY Morning:

+ 1 scoop of vegan protein

+ 1 cup of non dairy milk

+ 1/2 avocado

+ handful of spinach

+ 1 tbs of omega 3 oils

+ 1 tbs of Maca

+ 1/3 cup of raw Cacao * add more if you desire!

You Berry be ready Tuesday:

+ 1 scoop of vegan protein

+ 1 cup of non dairy milk

+ 1/2 banana

+ 1/2 cup of blueberries

+ 1/2 cup raspberries

+ handful of spinach

Hump day bliss:

+ 1 scoop of vegan protein

+ 1 cup of non dairy protein

+ 1/4 mint leaves

+ Juice from 1/2 lime

+ 1 handful of spinach

+ 1/2 banana

Thursday Detox (before you retox):

+ 1 scoop of vegan protein

+ 3/4 cup of water

+ 1 handful of spinach

+ 1 handful of kale

+ 1/2 avocado

+ 2 inch piece of cucumber

+ Juice from half a lemon

+ 1/2 tsp fresh ginger

Party Smoothie Friday:

Use whatever you have left over for the week!

Get creative, explore different combos or repeat your favorite from the week. I recommend using whatever you have left over from the week and just chuck it in and say oh, kale yeah! It’s fun, creative and helps keep our waste down.

Just make sure you’re following the basic foundation of your gourmet, super smoothie.

Non dairy base. This can be water, almond milk, coconut milk, or even something wild like hemp milk!  Just try to avoid juices here, so you don’t spike your sugar levels

Frozen ingredients. Fruit or ice is your friend!

Oh my goodness greens! Gotta extra cucumber from last night’s salad? Or kale, spinach or chard? Throw it in!

Protein punch. This will hold you over for your next meal and will also aid in the muscle recovery process from your workouts.  Most girls are afraid of protein and you shouldn’t be! A scoop a day will not make you fat or bulk up. This is a misconception as whey protein is a form of milk and some women gain weight with dairy consumption.  A plant based protein like Plant Fusion or vega will deliver a clean form of amino acids to your muscles and help keep your mind sharp.

Get those fats!  This one is a big one.  Omega 3 oils are essential to everyday fat consumption. You can reach straight for omegas, or you can introduce chia seeds, coconut oil or sesame seeds.  Just note that both chia and sesame seeds will absorb a lot of the liquid and make your smoothie a little thicker.

Happy blending!!
