Summer's Favorite Fats

Hi loves,

Here is a quick list of my favorite go-to fats aka the good guys:

  • Coconut oil
  • Ghee
  • Fish, particularly fatty fish
  • Fish oil
  • Algae oil
  • Walnuts
  • Flax seeds and oil
  • Avocados and avocado oil
  • Olive oil
  • Almonds
  • Cashews
  • Hazelnuts
  • Macadamia nut

When should I eat fat?

Fats should be part of every meal. Healthy fats are the vehicles for nutrients; they help car bohydrates and protein bind to the proper cells to be assimilated throughout the body. You will also balance the meal, and allow the body to feel full, because of the balanced nutrients.

What is a good balance?

The more Omega 3s you eat, the better your body will be able to detox inflammatory omega 6. Try to keep these ratios: 2-4 Omega 6 to 1 Omega 3.

How do I know I’ve had too much?

You may feel lethargic, or create irregular bowl movements. If so, just dial it back and find what works for you. There is such a thing as too much fat. Everything is a balance. Try slowing down and enjoying food. Eat without distraction. And chew, chew, chew, chew – chew 20 times before you swallow.
